James Dale Irvine, the son of James A. and Marion R. (Carter) Irvine, was born June 26, 1943, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He attended Fairfax High School, Fairfax, Missouri, graduating in 1961. J.D. was offered a full-ride scholarship as a kicker for the football team at Tarkio College, Tarkio, Missouri, however, he attended Southwest Baptist, Bolivar, Missouri and earned his associate’s degree.

On April 10, 1965, J.D. was united in marriage to Johny Diann Whalen at the Rock Port Methodist Church, Rock Port, Missouri. They became the parents of two children, C. Todd and Jamie D. and made their home in Rock Port their entire married life.

J.D. took part in the construction of Missouri Beef Packers, Phelps City, Missouri, and then was employed in maintenance. He later farmed with his dad, Jim, before beginning to farm for himself in the mid 1970’s. In the mid 1990’s, J.D. owned and operated Nitro Kennels, breeding and raising English Pointers, serving clientele all over the country. Due to health concerns, J.D. retired in 2023.

J.D. enjoyed hunting and fishing. He passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, at the age of 82.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include wife, Johny Irvine, Rock Port; children, Todd (Deborah) Irvine, Savannah, Missouri, and Jamie (Jared) Freemyer, Fairfax; grandchildren, Titan Irvine, Brogan (Thomas) Phelan, Griffin Irvine, Jentry (Cash) Hartley, and Jagger Freemyer; great grandchildren, Conan, Maeve, and Greer Phelan, and Murphy Hartley.

There is no scheduled memorial service or visitation.

Private family inurnment will be held at a later date, Home Cemetery, Tarkio, Missouri.

Memorials: Rock Port Volunteer Fire Department.

Cremation Arrangements: Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
