James E. Jochim, the son of Albert Sheldon and Mabel Bernice (Haughton) Jochim, was born October 24, 1932 in Watson, Missouri. Jim attended Watson High School, Watson, graduating in 1950.

 

On May 25, 1957, Jim was united in marriage to Jean Ann Jackson at Albert and Mabel’s house in Watson. They became the parents of three children, Jo Lynn, Julie, and James E., Jr. and made their home in the Watson and Rock Port, Missouri area.

 

On September 26, 1951, Jim entered the United States Navy and served his country, receiving his honorable discharge on September 21, 1955. Jim was a farmer his whole life. He raised cattle and hogs, bailed hay, and rowed crop.

 

Jim was a member of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio, Missouri, Atchison County Rural Water Board, and Phelps City Drainage Board, Phelps City, Missouri. He enjoyed dancing, attending horse shows and rodeos, going on trail rides, and hunting. Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jim passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 89.

 

Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by brothers, Donald Jochim and Albert Junior Jochim. Survivors include wife, Jean Ann Jochim, Rock Port; children, Jo Lynn (Steve) Shineman, Rock Port, Julie (Scott) Leseberg, Rock Port, and Jim, Jr. (Rhonda) Jochim, Byron, Nebraska; grandchildren, Shannon, Trent, Shawn, Jason, Brandon, Dustin, and Eric; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Marvin Jochim, Windsor, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 15, 2022, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.

Open visitation begins 12:00 P.M., noon, Friday, October 14, 2022, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M., Saturday, prior to the service.

Interment: Linden Cemetery, Rock Port.

Memorials: Linden Cemetery, Rock Port.

Arrangements: Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
