James John Bermingham, the son of David “Bud” and Marion Rose (Deacon) Bermingham, was born on September 27, 1933 in Buffalo, New York. Jim graduated from McKinley High School in Buffalo in 1951.

 

On July 27, 1953 Jim entered the United States Army and proudly served his country in a tank battalion during the Korean War. After receiving his honorable discharge on June 7, 1955, Jim returned to New York and attended Hutch Technical School, studying heating and cooling.
In 1954, Jim was united in marriage to Betty Konopik. To this union three daughters were born, Debbie, Sheri, and Jo. They were later divorced. On February 27, 1983, Jim was united in marriage to Joyce E. Squires. They made their home in Rock Port, where Jim was employed by Fairfax Heating and Cooling. He was later employed by Comfort Crew in Rock Port, where he retired in 1995. Jim also built the KOA Camp Ground west of Rock Port, which he owned and operated for several years.

 

Jim enjoyed going to Langdon Bend Missouri River Access or the Nishnabotna River Access to fish. He also enjoyed his dog Tuffy, going to the casino, and especially spending time with Joyce. Jim passed away Monday, November 5, 2007 at Community Hospital, Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 74 years.

 

Besides his parents, Jim is preceded in death by a daughter Debbie Butler who passed away on October 12, 2003. Survivors include his wife Joyce of the home; daughters Sheri Vanderhoof and her husband Jim, Booneville, Missouri, Jo Sempeck and her husband Scott, Denver, Colorado; stepchildren, Penny Heathcock, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Carolyn Hutt and her husband Robert, Sidney, Iowa, Deby Erickson and her husband Donald, Maryville, Missouri, J.R. Squires and his wife Mary, Exeter, Missouri, Tom Squires and his wife Lisa, Kearney, Missouri, David Squires and his wife Carla, Gardner, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Kara, Matt, Jackie, Bobbi, April, Lukas, Alannah, Casey, Jacob, Austin, Grant, and David; four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maggie, Bradley and Malachi; sister Pat Frizell and her husband Harold, North Tonwanda, New York.

 

Funeral Services: Thursday, November 8, 2007, 11:00 am, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
Burial: Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
Military Rites under the auspice of The Missouri Funeral Honors Group, St. Joseph, MO and the Ralph Greer American Legion Post # 49, Rock Port.
