James Lee Coon, the son of Lawrence Lee and Bertha Lucille (Cowell) Coon, was born September 16, 1945 in Omaha, Nebraska. James attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In 1971, James was united in marriage to Nancy Jane Clay. She passed away in 1987. On December 23, 1987, James was united in marriage to Nancy Langley in Papillion, Nebraska. She currently resides at their home in Watson, Missouri. James was a professional truck driver, pulling loads throughout the continental United States. He drove for Werner Enterprises for 19 years, and later drove with his wife Nancy, until an accident forced their retirement five years ago. James passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at his home in Watson, Missouri at the age of 61 years.

Survivors include his wife Nancy, Watson, Missouri; one son and his wife, Michael and Tina Coon, Harlan, Iowa; two daughters, Kris Robertson and her husband Scott, Fremont, Iowa and Teresa Anderson, Harlan; one step-son; Terry Kelso, Las Vegas, Nevada, two stepdaughters; Tammy Holbrook, Guilford, Missouri and Becky Goacher, Rock Port, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; one brother, Jack Coon, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, one sister, Thelma Thomas, Thornburg, Iowa; one niece and one nephew. Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by two sons; Troy Coon and Jimmie Coon, and one brother, Robert Coon.

Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2006 at Henry Livingston Funeral Home, Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Memorials: James Coon Memorial Fund The body will be cremated following the service. Inurnment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Iowa at a later date.
