1924 – 2015
Camdenton, Missouri

 

James Robert “Bob” Lindsay, the son of William and Artie (Andrews) Lindsay, was born April 10, 1924, in Tarkio, Missouri. Bob attended Tarkio High School. On October 21, 1941, he entered the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during World War II where he received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained. On December 7, 1945, Bob received his honorable discharge and returned to Tarkio where he earned his high school diploma.

 

On June 29, 1946, Bob was united in marriage to Mary Margaret Hays in Troy, Kansas. They made their home in Tarkio and became the parents of a son, Bill. Bob was employed as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Tarkio, Missouri. After retiring in 1985, Bob and Mary moved to Camdenton, Missouri, where Bob lived to the present time. Mary passed away April 6, 2012.

 

Bob was a member of the Missouri VFW Post #15026, Jefferson City, Missouri, and a 69 year member of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post # 199, Tarkio. Bob passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015, at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia, Missouri, at the age of 91.

 

Besides his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by son, Bill Lindsay and numerous brothers and sisters. Survivors include grandsons, Jimmy Lindsay and wife, Emily, St. Joseph, Missouri, and their son, Andon, and Danny Lindsay and wife, Tasha, Camdenton, and their children, Anna, Levi, Jaylin, Noah and Hailey; sister, Clara Mae Avant, Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

 

Funeral Services: 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 30, 2015, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M., Saturday, prior to the service, at Davis Funeral Home.
