Jan Michael Agnew, the son of Arden H. “Arch”, Sr. and Margaret “Susie” (Hughes) Agnew, was born May 7, 1963 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He attended Craig High School, Craig, Missouri, graduating in 1981.

 

Jan Michael was employed in maintenance by numerous school districts, retiring as the Superintendent of Facility and Maintenance for Garland Independent School district. After retiring, he achieved his life long dream of becoming Assistant Fire Chief and first responder for McAlester, Oklahoma.

 

Jan Michael enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and family gatherings. He could always be found with a cold drink in his hand and out in the shop. He especially loved spending time with family. Jan Michael passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 in McAlester, at the age of 59.

 

Jan Michael was preceded in death by father, Arch Agnew, Sr. Survivors include children Michael (Kelli) Agnew, John “Joe” (Jennifer) Hill, Joshua Agnew, Ryan (Amber) Twyman, Ashley (Mike) Martinez, and Cori (Joshua) McCullough; step children, Trenton (Erica) Franklin and Larissa (Randy) Mitchell; grandchildren, Lily and Christopher Agnew, Jaelynn, Jaecey, and Joaquin Hill, RJ Twyman, Damien and Alex Villegas, Olivia Martinez, Willow, Rowann, and Edeyn McCullough, Tyson Franklin, Skyler and Blake Wagoner, and Ivan Mitchell; siblings, JoAnn (James) McClain, Connie (Dennis) Travis, Teresa (Jeff) Larabee, and Arden “Archie”, Jr. (Amanda) Agnew; mother, Susie Agnew; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00-4:00 P.M., Saturday, February 18, 2023, American Legion Building, Tarkio, Missouri where a meal will follow.

Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
