Jason was born in Fairfax, Missouri to D.A. and Carol (Halliday) Sundermann, August 28, 1983. In his early years, he attended Westboro Grade School, Westboro, Missouri. Starting in sixth grade, he attended Tarkio schools, where he later graduated from Tarkio High School in 2002. During his high school career, Jason participated in basketball and football. He was a member of the National Honor Society and excelled in Academic Bowl. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Westboro. Following high school, Jason attended and graduated from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in May 2006. While in college, he was a member of the Bridle and Tack Club. Following his graduation, he began work for the Whitestone-Krebs Ranch in Gordon, Nebraska where he was involved in cattle backgrounding. Jason passed away Sunday, November 5, 2006 at the Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center, Denver, Colorado, at the age of 23 years.

Jason was a well loved and highly respected young man among his peers, teachers and community. He excelled both academically and physically all his life, as he was constantly involved in activities at church and at school. He greatly enjoyed his work and spending time with his family, demonstrating his love for livestock and his heart for his parents and siblings. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and all who knew him.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents Albert and Clara Sundermann, and aunt Linda Humphrey. He is survived by his parents D.A. and Carol; brother, Ryan and Kevin, and sister, Kaylan Sundermann, all of Westboro; grandparents, David and Bernice Halliday of Tarkio; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services were held Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 10:00 a.m., St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, with burial at St. John’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Jason Sundermann Memorial Fund.
