Jerry Lee Driskell, the son of Virgil and Lorene (Shipley) Driskell, was born July 30, 1951, in Fairfax, Missouri. He attended Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri, graduating in 1970. Jerry entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.
On January 9, 1972, Jerry was united in marriage to Nora Farley at the Assembly of God Church in Tarkio. They became the parents of two children, Jennifer and Jeremy. They made their home in Atchison County their entire married life.
After Jerry returned from the military, he was employed by Missouri Beef Packers, in Phelps City, Missouri, until the plant’s closing. For the next 12 years, Jerry was a farmhand for Tiemeyer Farms and then for Koch Farms for 10 years. Jerry owned and operated his own trucking business for 12 years, hauling grain for Martin Grain. He currently was employed by Pella Corporation, Shenandoah, Iowa, where he recently received recognition for his 10 years of service. Jerry was also very active in helping inform area youth about hunter safety education and helped with many youth hunting events. Jerry passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Community Hospital Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 62.
Besides his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by grandson, Logan Driskell. Survivors include wife, Nora; daughter, Jennifer Heard and husband, Jon, Jeremy Driskell and wife, JoAnna, all of Tarkio; grandchildren, Jordan Heard and Landon Driskell; siblings, Rose Owen and husband, Brian, Mound City, Missouri, Roberta Bennett and husband, Harvey, Tarkio, Judy Webster and husband, John, Rock Port, Missouri, John Virgil Driskell and wife, M.J., Debbie Tullis and husband, Richard, and Ronda Driskell, all of Tarkio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M., Sunday, December 29, 2013, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, Missouri.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
Open visitation will begin 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port. There is no scheduled family visitation.
