Jessie M. Knierim

1931-2018

Rock Port, Missouri

 

Jessie Marie (Herron) Knierim, the daughter of William Jesse and Mabel Venice (Sauceman) Herron, was born May 22, 1931, in Watson, Missouri.  She grew up in rural Watson and Rock Port, Missouri areas.  Jessie attended Shiloh Country School and Rock Port High School, graduating in 1949.

 

On November 25, 1952, Jessie was united in marriage to Charles Knierim in Waco, Texas, while Charles was serving in the United States Air Force.  In September 1953, they returned to the farm in the High Creek community and became the parents of two children, Debbie and Clay.  In 1960, they moved into Rock Port, then in 1974 moved to their farm east of Rock Port for a short time before returning to town in 1978, where she made her home to the present time.  Charles passed away in 2003.

 

Jessie was a homemaker, raising and caring for her two children. She also worked part-time at the Atchison County Library in Rock Port for three years and as a secretary at Rock Port High School.  Occasionally, she helped proofread at the Atchison County Mail.

 

Jessie was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, W.E.L.C.A., Rock Port Chapter #440, Order of the Eastern Star and the Ralph Greer American Legion Auxiliary Unit #49, Rock Port.  Jessie passed away September 24, 2018, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri,

at the age of 87.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, Charles, Jessie was preceded in death by three brothers, W.H. (Lois) Herron, Robert (Dorthea) Herron, and Donald Dean “Hap” Herron; four sisters, Marietta (Jack) Watkins, Elizabeth (Charlie) Wintjen, Betty (Bud) Kesterson, and one infant sister.  Survivors include daughter, Debbie Stubblefield and husband, Robert, Savannah, Missouri; son, Clay Knierim and wife, Rita, Tarkio, Missouri; grandchildren, Krystin (Joshua) Kleinlein, St. Joseph, Missouri, Karri (Justin) Anderson, Helena, Missouri, Shannon (Kevin) Pruitt, Maryville, Missouri,  Jamie (Jeff) Champlin, Smithville, Missouri, and Ashley (Adam) Barber, Maryville, Missouri; great-grandchildren, LanaKayt and Quentin Kleinlein, Brody Anderson, Connor and Stella Pruitt, Charlotte and William Champlin, and Henry and Lucy Barber; many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and a host of good friends.

 

Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 28, 2018, First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, Missouri

Interment:  Linden Cemetery, Rock Port.

Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Thursday, September 27, Minter Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 P.M.
