I just had a moment in which I thought, "Whatever ever happened to Johann?," looked on the internet and found this very recent obituary. I was one of Johann's dance students in the late 1980's in Santa Fe, New Mexico! When I knew him, he had very long hair, but I for sure recognize his face in the photo. I have such fond memories of dancing at the studio and other venues in Santa Fe. He was so magnificiently joyful and full of life and created a terrifically fun dance community. It makes me so very happy to read about his many accomplishments and degrees, but most of all to learn that he got married and had four children. I am so very sorry for the loss of your husband, father, brother, and Uncle -- and friend,teacher, and mentor to countless people in this world. Warmly, Doris

Johann was my coach, friend, and mentor. He touched the lives of so many people and was a positive force supporting those around him. Hearing the news of his passing hit me hard. I truly would not be where I am today with my running, confidence, and self-expression if not for Johann being a key part of my development and a great friend. On June 4th, 2023 I’ll be participating in the Deadwood, SD Marathon. The last time I was there Johann and a couple other students were running in the event with me. Weird timing. I hope to feel him with me while I’m running. My condolences go out to his family.
