John H. Boettner
November 6, 1922 - November 12, 2012
John H. (J.H.) Boettner, the son of Carl Chalmers and Lyda (McGuire) Boettner, was born November 6, 1922, in Rock Port, Missouri. J.H. graduated from Rock Port High School in 1940 and graduated from the Aeronautic Institute, Lincoln, Nebraska, with an Associates degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
On July 12, 1942, J.H. was united in marriage to Deana Moore, at the Wilshire Wedding Chapel, Los Angeles, California. They celebrated 70 years of marriage this past July. For a short time, J.H. was employed by Lockheed-Vega, in Burbank, California, before entering the United States Army Air Force, to serve his country during World War II. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, J.H. and Deana returned to the Rock Port area, where J.H. was employed as a buyer for the Wilson Company in Tarkio. In 1948, J.H. and Deana began farming the family farm, north of Rock Port, where they lived for the remainder of their life together.
J.H. was a former member of the High Creek Baptist Church and a current member of the Rock Port Baptist Church. He also was a lifetime member of the Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port. J.H. enjoyed golfing, working on crossword puzzles, reading and playing bridge with his friends. He loved spending time with his family and friends and was dedicated to his church where he was a deacon and served on numerous committees. In addition, he served on the Grange Hall Cemetery Association board for 25 years. J.H. passed away Monday, November 12, 2012, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, at the age of 90.
Besides his parents, J.H. was preceded in death by sisters, Marjorie (Lee) Fowler and Dorothy (Carl) Muller. Survivors include his wife, Deana, of the home, Rock Port; sons, Jay (Marge) Boettner, Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Steven (Cynthia) Boettner, San Jose, California; grandchildren, Danita Boettner, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Scott (Amy) Boettner, Columbus, Indiana, Erin (Chris) Blume, Wichita, Kansas, Jason (Erin) Boettner, Campbell, California, Travis (Kimberly) Boettner and Kelli Wing, all of San Jose, California; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Corey and Aimee Blume, all of Wichita, Kansas, Luke and Addison Boettner, Columbus, Indiana, and Jackson Boettner, Campbell, California; brother-in-law, Oscar (Margaret) Moore, Rock Port; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 15, 2012, Rock Port Baptist Church, Rock Port.
Interment: Grange Hall Cemetery, Rock Port.
There is no scheduled family visitation.
