John Wesley Bowers II, the son of John Wesley (Jake) I and Carolyn Louise (McAfee) Bowers was born March 13, 1953, in Fairfax, Missouri. He attended Rock Port High School, graduating in 1971. On July 16, 1971, John entered the United States Army where he worked as an electrician and in the transportation battalion. John received his honorable discharge June 14, 1973, and returned to Atchison County, Missouri.
In September 1978, John was united in marriage to Patricia (Harrington) Roberts. To this union, Michelle was born and he became a stepfather to Patricia’s sons, Billy Joe and Jim Roberts. They later divorced. Later, he was united in marriage to Victoria Molthan and was a close stepfather to Victoria’s son, Shane Molthan, and step-grandfather to his three children, Trysta, Tabyne and Dalton. They later divorced.
John was an over-the-road truck driver, hauling agricultural goods until retiring in 2012. He enjoyed attending auctions, spending time with friends and buying cars, to refurbish and resell. He especially loved Chevy pickups and knew everyone by what vehicle they drove. John passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Bryan LGH East, Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 62.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by nephew, Michael Bowers and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include daughter, Michelle Graham and husband, Phil, Fairfax, and their daughter, Carley; brothers, Allen Bowers and wife, Pam, St. Joseph, Missouri, Jay Bowers and wife, Connie, Shenandoah, Iowa, and Russell Bowers, Sidney, Iowa; niece and nephew, Shelby and Mark; and godchild, Jayme Koop.
Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M, Monday, September 21, 2015, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, Missouri.
Interment: Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
There is no visitation.
