Joye L. Carnes, the daughter of Sam and Luttie (Graham) Jones, was born July 20, 1930 in Clifty, Arkansas. Joye attended high school in Huntsville, Arkansas, graduating in 1949.
On April 3, 1953, Joye was united in marriage to Herbert Carnes in Lincoln, Nebraska. They made their home in Raymond, Nebraska where Joye worked for the Elgin Watch Company. In 1966 they moved to Westboro, Missouri, where they lived to the present time. Following their move to Westboro, Joye drove a school bus for the Westboro and Tarkio school districts.
Joye was a true “farmer’s wife.” She enjoyed driving trucks, tractors, milking cows, churning butter, raising chickens and every year planted a large garden. She especially enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren. Joye was a member of the Merrill Smith American Legion Auxiliary, Westboro.
Besides her parents, Joye was preceded in death by four brothers, Fred, Harvey, Eugene and William Jones and two sisters, Marlin Hadley and Velma Phillips. Survivors include husband, Herb Carnes, Westboro; daughter, Sonia Willers and husband, Jon, Shenandoah, Iowa; grandchildren, Jordan Hoefing and her husband, Capt. Jon Hoefing, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Taylor Willers and her fiancé, Gabe Stevenson, Farragut, Iowa, Cord R. Willers, Brookings, South Dakota, Madison Willers, Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, Wanetta Puryear and husband, Kenneth, Springdale, Arkansas, Barbara Shipp, Huntsville, Arkansas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Service and Interment: 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 26, 2012, at Walden Grove Cemetery, Westboro, Missouri.
There is no scheduled family visitation. Open visitation will begin 10:00 A.M., Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Davis Funeral Home.
