1914-2006
Joye Madeline (Elton) Thiemann was born September, 14, 1914 on a farm east of Mound City, Missouri, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Vandeventer) Elton. She departed this life on December 12, 2006 at the Community Hospital, Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 92 years.
Joye graduated from Mound City High School in 1933 and was also a graduate of the former Castor Beauty Academy, St. Joseph, Missouri. She worked as a beautician until her marriage to Lee Thiemann on July 3, 1943. Lee preceded her in death on January 7, 1998.
They made their home in Independence, Missouri, later moving to Wichita, Kansas where Joye was active in several clubs and helped organize an Antique Club. In 1990, they moved to Tarkio, Missouri where she made her home until having to move to Northview Manor because of her health in June 2005.
Joye was a member of the Tarkio United Methodist Church.
Also preceding Joye in death were her parents, two brothers Dellie H. Elton and Thomas Elton; six sisters Virginia Andes, Noreen Bickel, Francis Bohart, Doris Wilson, Margaret Moulthrop and Betty Cummins; one nephew; one niece and a great nephew.
Survivors include one sister-in-law Betty Elton of Trenton, Missouri; four nephews, Bill Bickel, Bronson Cummins, Cameron Cummins, C.W. Elton; four nieces, Sharon Roberts, Carol Pendleton, Melenna Fillip and Renee Hull; also several great nephews and nieces.
Graveside services and burial were held Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 10:30 a.m., Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, MO. There was no scheduled family visitation. Memorials may be directed to Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax.
