1940-2017
Fairfax, Missouri

 

Juanita (Scoot) May Barnett, the daughter of Clarence and Lois (Mayhugh) Medlin, was born January 28, 1940, in Plainview, Texas. She attended Plainview, Texas, Schools.

 

In 1957, Juanita was united in marriage to W.F. (Tooter) Reed and became the parents of two children, Debbie and Billy. They later divorced. Scoot made her home in Edmonson, Plainview, Lubbock and Temple, Texas, her entire life until moving to Missouri in 2006, to be closer to her daughter. She never forgot her love of Texas!

 

Scoot worked as a meat wrapper, a jewelry store clerk and in customer service at Chick-fil-a. She also provided childcare in her home for many years. Scoot was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple, Texas. Scoot passed away Friday, January 20, 2017, at Maryville Living Center, Maryville, Missouri, at the age of 76.

 

In addition to her parents, Scoot was preceded in death by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.T. Mayhugh and Lena Medlin; brother, Lloyd (Buzzy) Medlin; step-father, Ralph Tidwell; and nephew, Bryson Watson. Survivors include daughter, Debbie Long and husband, Bill, Fairfax, Missouri; son, Billy Reed, Deville, Louisiana; granddaughters, Nicole Booker and husband, Grant, Lacy Long, Katheryn Long, Hailey Reed and Kylee Reed; three great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Rubac and husband, Lyn, Temple; one niece and four nephews.

 

No local services or visitation are planned. A memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date in Plainview, Texas.
