Judith Ellen (Gifford) Munn, the daughter of Clarence Durrell and Carrie (Eaton) Gifford, was born July 31, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska.

 

She attended South High School, Omaha, graduating in 1947. Judy then attended Tarkio College, Tarkio, Missouri, receiving her diploma in 1951.

 

On April 5, 1952, Judy was united in marriage to William Bragg Munn, and they made their home in Tarkio. She was employed by Dr. E.F. Bare, Tarkio, where she worked for 26 years before retiring.

 

Judy was a member of P.E.O. Chapter FF, Tarkio and the Mule Barn Theatre Guild. She was a very active member of the Tarkio Presbyterian Church, serving in many ways, especially being in charge of church dinners. For the last ten years, she was very involved with building a new library and resource facility for the town of Tarkio. She served on the advisory board and worked to make the new Tarkio Resource Center a reality, then helped with the many programs offered at the center to young and old alike. Judy passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Community Hospital – Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 79 years.

 

Besides her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her husband, William B. Munn; and a sister, Ida Schultis.

 

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Dallas Meek, Cary, North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Carolyn Munn, Black Mountain, North Carolina; grandson, Jack Munn, Black Mountain, North Carolina; and sister, Esther Oviatt, Rolla, Missouri.

 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Tarkio Resource Center, Tarkio. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
