Julia Jane Bennington, the daughter of Herbert and Etta (LaHue) Hunter, was born November 7, 1936, in Langdon, Missouri. She attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1955. Julia attended beauty school in Omaha, Nebraska riding the train from Langdon to Omaha and returning home on the weekends.

 

On March 16, 1957, Julia was united in marriage to Larry L. Bennington at the Hunter Family Farm. After living for a short time in Coronado, California while Larry was in the Navy they returned to Rock Port and made their home on the farm and became parents of two sons, Sam and Todd. Larry passed away in 1994.

 

Julia was a homemaker, caring for her sons. She also worked on the farm, driving the tractor, raising cattle and working for a time at Mabel Long’s beauty shop. Julia was a member of the First Lutheran Church and Hunter Cemetery Association, Rock Port. She was also a long-time member of DAR and P.E.O. She loved genealogy, mowing the yard at the farm and delivering meals for the senior center. Most of all, Julia enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Julia passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, at the age of 87.

 

Besides her parents and husband, Larry Bennington, Julia was preceded in death by brother, Lewis Hunter. Survivors include sons, Sam (Sima) Bennington, Spicewood, Texas, and Todd (Natalie) Bennington, Columbia, Missouri; granddaughters, Sasha and Avary Bennington; sister, Juanita Long, Rock Port; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

 

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Friday, October 11, 2024, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.

Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Thursday, October 10, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port. There is no scheduled family visitation.

Interment: Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hunter Cemetery.

Arrangements: Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
