Katherine J. Watts
1924 -2015
Rock Port, Missouri

 

Katherine J. Watts, the daughter of David H. and Della Marie (Grebe) Stickerod, was born March 28, 1924, in Rock Port, Missouri. Katy attended Liberty Country School and graduated from Rock Port High School in 1942.

 

On September 20, 1941, Katy was united in marriage to Virgil C. Watts in Bethany, Missouri. They married in secret just before Virg entered the military so that Katy could finish high school. They made their home in Chicago for two years while Virgil was in the United States Navy. After his service, they returned to Rock Port and lived there to the present time. Katy and Virg celebrated 73 years of marriage together. Virgil passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015.

 

Katy was employed at the Bank of Atchison County in Rock Port for 25 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Rock Port, a former member of the Rock Port Chapter #440, Order of the Eastern Star, and a former member of the Ralph Greer American Legion Auxiliary, also of Rock Port. Katy passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 90.

 

Besides her parents and husband, Katy was preceded in death by daughter, Cecelia Watts, 1970; sisters, Jennie Taylor and Eloise Redford. Survivors include sister, Annabelle Bailey, Garland, Texas; brother, David C. Stickerod, Rockville, Maryland; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

 

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 26, 2015, First Christian Church, Rock Port.
Interment: Linden Cemetery, Rock Port.
There is no scheduled family visitation.
