Kathleen Jo Knowles, 75, passed away peacefully Monday, May 29, 2023 at the Oregon Care Center in Oregon, Missouri.

Kathy was born November 19, 1947, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Esther and Jack Petersen. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1965.  She attended college at Clarinda College until relocating to West Palm Beach, where she met and married Richard Knowles in 1972. They lived in Florida until 1992 then moved to Big Lake, Missouri.

Richard, “Dickie”, and Kathy had three sons: Christopher, Jason, and Kevin. She was a homemaker and worked various jobs but always loved working with kids.  Kathy dearly loved her sister, Maureen Garrity.

Her hobbies and interests included her kids and grandkids, reading, cooking, drives around Big Lake, and any trouble she and Maureen could get into!

Kathy is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Knowles and nephew, Dale Moon. She is survived by her sister, Maureen (Dennis) Garrity; her three sons, Christopher Knowles, Jason (Gwen) Knowles, and Kevin Knowles; grandchildren, Luke (Katelyn) Sanders, Mae (Aaron) Graham, Calvin Knowles, and Max Knowles; niece, Kelly (Kenneth) Fellowes, nephew, Joey (Nicole) Garrity, nephew, Danny (Michael) Moon, nephew, Dennis (Tammy) Moon; and 6 great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

There is no visitation.

Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
