Larry Albert Morehouse
April 13, 1933 - July 6, 2008
Larry Albert Morehouse, the son of Albert P. and Mildred E. (Vinzant) Morehouse, was born April 13, 1933 in Maryville, Missouri. He attended Nodaway County rural schools and graduated from Horace Mann High School, Maryville in 1951.
On May 31, 1951, Larry entered the United States Navy, and served his country overseas during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge on May 19, 1955 and returned to Maryville, where he was employed by the Robbins Lightning Rod Factory. In 1956, Larry was employed by St. Joe Light and Power as a Foreman Tree Trimmer and moved to Tarkio, Missouri.
On September 6, 1959 Larry was united in marriage to Delores Jayne Thurnau at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Craig, Missouri. They made their home in Tarkio, and reared their two sons; Timothy and Scott. He retired in 1994, as a Gas Service Man, after 38 years of faithful service. Following retirement he started Morehouse Tree Trimming and also enjoyed making glass arrowheads. Larry passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Community Hospital, Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 75 years.
Larry was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Craig, a 52 year member of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, and a 20 year member of the Tarkio Volunteer Fire Department.
Besides his parents, Larry was preceded in death by one brother Donald Morehouse. Survivors include his wife, Delores; two sons, Timothy A. and Scott A. Morehouse, all of Tarkio; one sister Dixie Baldwin, Kearney, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services and Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 9, 2008, Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at the home of Scott Morehouse, 604 Maple St., Tarkio, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to 40 & 8 Nurses Training Fund, Home Cemetery or the Tarkio Volunteer Fire Department.
Military Honors under the auspices of the Allen – Schiffern American Legion Post # 199 of Tarkio.
Services under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
