Laura M. Torix
1923 – 2014
Tarkio, Missouri

 

Laura Mae Torix, the daughter of William and Mary R. (Covington) Kelly, was born August 21, 1923, in Washington D.C. Laura Mae attended school in Saint Joseph, Missouri for a brief time. Being a daughter of migrant farm laborers, she was needed to help provide for her family and not able to continue her own education.

 

In 1942, Laura Mae was united in marriage to T.G. Torix, in LeFlore, Oklahoma. Following World War II, they made their home in Phoenix, Arizona, where she was employed as the head housekeeper in a rehabilitation center. T.G. passed away in 1978. In 1986, she moved to Tarkio, Missouri to be closer to her brother, Jack Kelly and sister, Millie Davis. Laura Mae passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Tarkio Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Tarkio, at the age of 91.

 

Besides her parents and husband, T.G., Laura Mae was preceded in death by brother, Jack Kelly and his wife, Ruth; sister, Millie Davis and her husband, Jack; sisters, Virginia, Mary Ethel, Lottie, Marie, Roberta, and one infant brother.

 

Local survivors include nephews and nieces; Mark Davis, Mary Ellen Oswald and husband, Richard, Fairfax, Missouri, Debbie Lindsay and husband, Jim, Climax Springs, Missouri, Deanne Singer and husband, Mark, Islandia, New York, Jack Kelly and wife, Sherry, and Fran Minter and husband, Michael, all of Rock Port, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside Service and Interment:
10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September, 30, 2014, Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
Memorials: Home Cemetery Association
Open visitation will begin 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 29,2014, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
There is no scheduled family visitation.
