It is never easy to loose a parent, however it may happen. Your mom was such a special person. Because of her links to Holt County, she knew so many members of my family. This would result in question and answer times. Her generosity and impartialness when it came to school related situations will not be forgotten.

I was fortunate enough to have her as a teacher and she has stuck with me for years. At that age you don't remember much, but she will always be with me. She will be missed.

Our condolences at the loss of your mother. She was my college advisor from 1984 - 1987. What a wonderful mentor and friend. I have kept track of your mother through our mutual friend, Dr. Terry Dixon. Again, you and your families are in our prayers. John and Lisa Lukas

Mrs. Reid was not only one of my favorite elementary teachers, but a friend. I looked forward to seeing her in Church when I came home. Her love for all will be greatly missed. Mom gave me one of her books and, true to form, Mrs. Reid had written a personal note to me. I will never forget (after she finally revealed it to me) how she helped me when I was preparing to go on my first mission trip to Jamaica. Her memory will be cherished forever by all who knew her! God Bless You, Mrs. Reid!

Pitter Patter, Pitter Patter: A Poem Dedicated to a Dear Friend and Colleague, LaVona Reid Terry P. Dixon Pitter Patter, Pitter Patter Pitter Patter, Pitter Patter There is a noise I've heard the last twenty years. It's the patter of LaVona's feet bringing friendship and good cheers. As I would sit in my office and crank away, I would hear the patter and I would know what to say: It would say ""Good morning,"" in the loveliest way, Like the sun on a warm and bright, crispy day. It would make you glow and feel good all over, Just to know that LaVona was stopping over. When everyone was down and didn't know what to do, Pitter Patter, Pitter Patter Bad feelings, that is the end of you! When others were in need and to turn knew not where, Pitter Patter, Pitter Patter, LaVona was there. When no one would listen and needed to talk, Pitter Patter, Pitter Patter In LaVona would walk. When no one had courage to say what needed to be said Pitter Patter, Pitter Patter, LaVona would get it in their head. So today to pay tribute and Show love for you and all you have done, For the thousands of people You touched one by one. CLUMP CLUMP, CLUMP CLUMP is the best WE can do, For LaVona, there will never be another you! Now as I listen to the heavens I can hear loud and clear, Pitter Patter, Pitter Patter LaVona is here! We share in the family and community's loss We Love you Lavona, Evelyn and Terry Dixon

LaVona was such an inspiration and lived life to the fullest. Having worked with LaVona in the 1980's at Tarkio I observed a master teacher impacting the lives of many so many students. As a friend, I have observed a model of Christ on this earth. Never did I hear a negative word spoken by LaVona about anyone. LaVona was a model of God?›ƒ?ªƒ?›s love that she demonstrated whenever she spoke of her late husband, her son or daughter or her grandchildren and great grandchildren. LaVona loved sports as was

It seems strange sitting here writing something for Mrs. Reid. She was always the one sending clippings with a hand written note or scripture always in red ink. I feel priveledged to have known whom I consider the best teacher I ever had. She made every person she met feel special because she truly felt that they were. She just didn't know how special she was herself. You will be greatly missed Mrs. Reid.

Randy, Jacque Gayle, & families, I too, was always getting those newspaper clippings and photos from home. She always watched over my Mom and would give me a call ever so often, if Mom was not taking care of herself. I always felt like I had another mother or two in Rock Port. And that was a great feeling. She will be missed but she left her mark.. Our prayers and thoughts are with all of you... Dennis and Gayle Jones

Words can't express the hole that has been left in our community with LaVona's passing. She was everywhere, knew everyone, and loved deeply. Her life should be an inspiration to us all. She was never too busy for anyone and always had a kindness happening somewhere. She knew how to do life. Thank you for sharing her with all of us. She will never be forgotten.

Jacque Gayle, So sorry to read about the passing of your mother. I so enjoyed talking with her while she and Dad were in the Fairfax hospital. I know Mom and Dad enjoyed your parents so very much. Your mother lived until the very end as she was always wanting to complete projects! Just want you to know we are thinking of you and your family at this time.

What a beautiful tribute to your mother. She was indeed a wonderful person who brightened anyone's life she touched. How precious to know that she is no longer in pain, and is sitting at the feet of Jesus.

What an awesome individual she was! I suspect she is the only real reason I ended up becoming a teacher and now a principal. I used to call her Big L! She would laugh and say, "well there's not a big thing about me girl". How wrong she was!! Good bye Big L. I will miss you till we meet again!
