Lee Henry Joesting, the son of Louis H. and Anna Louise (Broermann) Joesting, was born July 16, 1923 in Tarkio, Missouri. He attended Highbank Country School west of Tarkio till the eight grade. Lee joined the United States Army, proudly serving his country during World War II, from 1943 – 1946.
On December 2, 1981, Lee was united in marriage to Marie Catherine Holliway in Orange County, California. He farmed west of Tarkio most of his life. In 1984, Lee purchased a farm north of Auburn, Nebraska. He and Marie lived there until retiring in 1994, when they moved to Nebraska City, Nebraska. They enjoyed wintering in Casa Grande, Arizona. Lee was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Westboro, Missouri. He passed away November 18, 2008 at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City at the age of 85 years.
Besides his parents, Lee is preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Joesting and Herman Joesting and four sisters, Mary Parr, Hilda Walter, Inez Tieman and an infant sister.
Lee is survived by his wife, Marie of the home in Nebraska City; one step-daughter, Barbara Hultman and her husband, Steve, Tampa, Florida and one step-granddaughter, Sarah Hultman, Tampa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: 11:00 am, Friday, November 21, 2008 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, Missouri.
Interment: St. John’s Cemetery, Westboro.
Visitation: 7:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Marshall Funeral Chapel, Nebraska City.
Open visitation Thursday, November 20, 2008, beginning at 9:00 am at Davis Fuenral Home, Tarkio.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the St John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro.
