Leland Wilson Smith Jr. was born October 7, 1944 to Leland Wilson Smith Sr. and Abbie Angellette (Rednour) Smith and in Henderson, Kentucky, then moved on to Missouri in 1945. Leland attended and graduated from Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri. Leland peacefully passed away June 12, 2022 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri, at the age of 77.

Leland was united in marriage to Donna Maurie Jones on September 23, 1966, in Fortescue, Missouri and they made their home in the Tarkio area.  Leland loved to hunt, fish, shoot guns and spend time with his children and grandchildren. He worked for Lester’s Concrete in Tarkio, and then the Atchison County Highway Department until retiring in 2005 after 25 years.

Besides his parents, Leland was preceded in death by infant brother Gregory Smith, wife Donna Maurie Smith, son William Eugene Smith. Survivors include brother, Robert Smith and wife Jeana of Shenandoah, Iowa; son, Robert Wayne Smith and wife Amy of Rock Port, daughter, Lisa Gish and husband Danny of Tarkio; grandchildren, Gregory Smith (Taryn) of Tarkio, Timothy Smith of Macon, Georgia, Nathan Smith of Macon, Abbie Loper (Duke) of Tarkio, Daniel Gish (Kitney) of Saint Joseph, Missouri, Raelynn Gish (Caleb) of Springfield, Missouri, Brianna and Kalynn Smith of Rock Port, Darain Horr (Haley) of Saint Joseph, Alissa and Arthur Reeves of Peru, Nebraska, Samantha, Sabrina and Micheal Wright; 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service:10:30 A.M., Monday, June 20, 2022, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.

There is no visitation.

Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
