Lennie I. Protzman, the daughter of Floyd and Rosa Mae (Scott) McKee, was born August 11, 1951 in Kidder, Missouri. Lennie graduated from J.C. Penny High School, Hamilton, Missouri and in 2004 from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Psychology. She loved the study of the human body and watching crime scene detective television shows.
In the mid 1970’s, Lennie was united in marriage to Jerry Dorsey and they became the parents of two daughters Tonya and Kristi. Tragically, Jerry and the children passed away in a car accident in 1979. In 1979 Lennie met Robert Leo Protzman and they became companions. making their home in Maryville, until August 8, 2006 when they were married. They were the parents of one daughter Jessica.
In the late 1970’s Lennie was employed by Herzog in St. Joseph, Missouri and had the distinction of being the first “flag woman” for highway construction in northwest Missouri. After Jessica was born, Lennie became a stay at home mom and owner/operator of Jermain’s Grocery in Conception, Missouri. Lennie and Robert operated the store until 2007 when Robert retired. Following Robert’s passing in 2013, Lennie moved to Jessica’s home in Tarkio, Missouri where she lived to the present time.
Lennie never met a stranger and loved meeting people while employed by Caseys, Torrey Pines and Hy-Vee, all in Tarkio. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Tarkio and loved spending time with her granddaughters. Lennie passed away Monday, November 1, 2021 at Pleasant View Nursing home, Rock Port at the age of 70 years.
Besides her parents, husbands, and daughters, Lennie was preceded in death by brothers Bill, Raymond, Josh, and David Mckee, and sisters Effie Masters and Florence Shelton. Survivors include, daughter, Jessica (Scott) Walker, Tarkio; granddaughters, Gracie and Lyla Walker, Tarkio; siblings, Johnnie (Boni) McKee, Ava, Missouri, Darold (Joann) McKee, Illinois, Frances Wolf, Kansas City, MO, Rosa Morgan, Liberty, Missouri, Celinda Rogers, Cameron, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews and step children.
Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment, 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Saint Columba Cemetery, Conception, Missouri.
There is no visitation.
