Leo Romaine Martin, Sr., the son of Leo and Neva Cloe (Smith) Martin was born October 14, 1932, in Quitman, Missouri. He attended Eureka Country School in rural Westboro. On May 29, 1953 Leo entered the United States Army and served his country in Germany during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge on May 11, 1955 and returned to Westboro.
On June 1, 1956 , Leo was united in marriage to Annette Marie Butkus. To this union, three children were born; Sharen, Karen and Leo Martin, Jr. They lived in Westboro their entire married life. Annette passed away in 2004. Leo passed away Friday, September 14, 2012, at his home in Westboro at the age of 79.
Farming was Le
o’s life and he always stayed busy, whether working in the garden, building fence or spraying weeds. He also enjoyed playing bingo. Leo was a member of the Merrill-Smith American Legion Post # 32, Westboro.
Besides his parents and wife Annette, Leo was preceded in death by son, Leo Romaine Martin, Jr.; grandson, Seth Martin; and brother, Paul Martin. Survivors include daughters, Sharen Carnagey and Karen Martin, both of Westboro; six grandchildren, Aftin, Wyatt and Rene Carnagey, Amanda Lauck and Michael and Kelli Martin; five great-grandchildren, Alexis, Lauren, Dylan, Addison and Lea; two step grandchildren, Jesse and Hailey Mutchler; sister, Luella Barlow and husband, Don, Omaha, Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 18, 2012, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Interment: Center Grove Cemetery, Westboro.
The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 P.M., Monday evening, September 17, 2012, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
