Lila Lou Robinson was born July 14, 1932 to Dr. Chester and Florence (Robinson) Henson in Boonville, Missouri. The family moved to Unionville, Missouri when she was four, where her father established his medical practice. Her parents divorced when she was quite young, so her early life was divided between Unionville and St. Louis, Missouri. When Florence went to Okinawa to work and mission, Lila and her brother Jim remained in Unionville with “Doc.” Her mother’s sisters, Levina and Oleva influenced her life also.

Lila married Roy Robinson on July 23, 1949. They had three children, David Roy, Janette Colleen and Robert Paul. Lila devoted her life to her family. She worked outside the home when the children where in school, but always took jobs that would make her available to them and Roy. She was a helpmate to Roy in his career and hobbies and she was the children’s biggest fan, rarely missing any event they were involved in. Lila was an accomplished seamstress, making most of her wardrobe, and would sew long into the night if there was a special occasion for anyone in the family. She loved crafts and would try anything. Lila loved to paint and later spent many hours quilting and stitching. Even as her health failed her early in life, she remained as active as she could. When her body failed her, she exemplified strength of character in her acceptance and determination to stay active and involved. She was a force to be reckoned with, never leaving any doubt what she thought. Lila loved her husband, her children and grandchildren unconditionally. She and Roy were a team for nearly 60 years. As her health failed, they moved to Rock Port, Missouri to be closer to her family. Lila passed away May 12, 2008 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port at the age of 75 years.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her son David. Survivors include her husband, Roy of the home in Rock Port; daughter and son-in-law Janette and Garrett Smith, Rock Port; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Terrie Robinson, Aubrey, Texas; daughter-in-law Norena Robinson, Rock Port; nine grandchildren, Wade Smith, Lieutenant Kalen Smith, Jon Robinson, Heather Robinson, Hallie Evans, Brent Dahlin, Ellie Schulz, Lauren Surkemer, Luke Robinson; five great grandchildren, Katie, Sadie, Zeke, Jack and Lincoln; brother and sister-in- law Jim and Karen Henson, Overland Park, Kansas; and nieces and nephews.
