Linda Jean Carlson, the daughter of Earl Eric and Marilyn Louise (Stotts) Carlson, was born October 13, 1960 in Maysville, Missouri. She attended school in Tarkio, Missouri, graduating from Tarkio High School in 1980. Linda then attended Platte College, Citadel Health Care, both in St. Joseph, Missouri and Iowa Western Community College in Clarinda, Iowa, earning Secretary/Clerk/Typist and Certified Nurse’s Assistant certifications. She later received her Licensed Practical Nursing diploma in 1993.

Linda entered the United States Army in 1983, where she proudly served her country until her honorable discharge. Upon returning home, she was employed at several nursing homes in the northwest Missouri and southwest Iowa area. Linda was a member of the Merrill-Smith American Legion Auxiliary, Westboro, and First Baptist Church, Tarkio. Linda passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Shenandoah, Iowa Memorial Hospital, at the age of 47 years.

Besides her grandparents, Linda is preceded in death by her father, Earl. She is survived by her mother, Louise; sister Brenda Merriett and her fiancé Jason Jones Rosendale, Missouri ; half brothers, Rick Carlson, California, Missouri and Jim Carlson, Omaha, Nebraska; nieces, Erica and Sarah Merriett, Tarkio; ex-brother-in-law David Merriett, Tarkio; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services: Friday, January 18, 2008, 2:00 pm, Baptist Church, Tarkio.
A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
There is no visitation.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Erica and Sarah Merriett College Fund.
