Lloyd D. Branson, the son of Lester Daniel and Bessie Precilla (Lane) Branson, was born August 24, 1928, in Tarkio, Missouri. Lloyd’s family moved to California where he attended school. On September 6, 1945, he entered the United States Navy and served his country during World War II, while also finishing his high school education. Lloyd received his honorable discharge on January 24, 1950.
On May 6, 1979, Lloyd was united in marriage to Sharley Goerner in Aurora, Colorado. They moved to Atchison County in the early 1980’s and into Rock Port in the early 1990’s where they lived to the present time.
Lloyd was employed as a district manager for the Shoe Corporation of America, retiring in the early 1980’s. For 14 years, Lloyd worked as a dispatcher for the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office and for a few years at Do It Best Hardware, in Rock Port. He was a former member of the Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port. Lloyd passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, at the age of 87.
Besides his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by son, Kenneth Goerner; granddaughter, Amber Branson; and brothers, Howard and Tom Branson. Survivors include wife, Sharley, Rock Port; children, Derek Branson and wife, Sheila, Washington, Ryan Branson and wife, Pam, Oregon, Miles Branson and wife, Timi, California, Kathi Hatleback and husband, Bryan, Fairfax, Missouri, Lorri Sleeth and Steve Goerner, both of Colorado; 12 grandchildren, Travis, Josh, Stephanie, Iliah, Chad, Chelsea, Kira, Matthew, Courtney, Jamie, Nathan and Brandon; 13 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Madisen, Conner, Cadence, Brennan, Eli, Noah, Hannah, Ezekiel, Henry, Jake, Kyle and Max; and two brothers, Chuck Branson and Paul Fenton and wife, Toni, all of California.
Memorial Services: 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 24, 2015, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
A memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date at Crown Hill Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
There is no visitation.
