Lois M. Lester
1928 – 2011
Tarkio, MO

Lois Lester enjoyed life on this earth for 83 years but after dealing with extensive heart trouble, traded up to her new mansion in heaven. She is enjoying God’s presence along with her grandparents – the Walkers’ and McGinnis’; mother and father – Alma and Forrest McGinnis; brother – James W. McGinnis; children – Kay and Kelly Rowland; most recent husband – Earl Lester; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Born in Westboro, Missouri, on March 25, 1928, Lois lived most of her life in and around Tarkio with intervening residencies in Colorado, South Dakota, and other Missouri cities. During this time Lois was also married to Col. Darrell Rowland and Kenneth Hallanger.

Lois attended University of Colorado and took a break to marry and raise a family then resumed her education at Adams State College, Alamosa, Colorado, and earned a bachelor degree in Business Management. Lois performed administrative duties for the federal government and several corporations.

A very active life included participation in numerous social and charitable organizations, plus she supplied Beanie Babies to the children staying at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital. Lois was a member of Tarkio Presbyterian Church. Of course, these activities required the help and support of numerous friends and relatives.

Lois leaves behind a loving family including son, Kimbol “Kim” Rowland, and his wife, Linda of Chandler, Arizona; grandchildren, Melanie Calabrese and her husband, Cameron; and great grandchildren, Noah and Madeline, of Chandler, Jason Rowland and daughter, Claire, of San Diego, and Ryan Rowland and his wife, Deanna, of San Diego. There are numerous local cousins, including Lila Mae and Dale Faulkner, Mary Lou and Cleo Dukes, Opal Louise and Don Noble, Dean and Shirley Mather, Sharon McCall, Betty Jean and Dean Freeman, and Marvin and Kathy Walker; plus other relatives scattered throughout the country.

The family is eternally grateful for all the friends and cousins that made a difference in Lois’ life over the years by looking after her and transporting her to and fro. Also, for reading her letters to the editor and complimenting her on those. Lastly, to those friends and cousins that made sure Lois was not alone during her final transition to eternity, we THANK-YOU.
