Lorena M. Freeman, formerly of Fairfax, Missouri, passed away on January 27, 2019, at Keystone Ridge in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 89.
Lorena was born June 23, 1929, to Hurvul and Jessie (Driskell) Epley in Dora, Missouri. She attended school in Dora.
On April 17, 1947, she was united in marriage to Wayne Freeman, also of Dora. They soon relocated to Fairfax, Missouri, and began farming on the family farm north of Fairfax, where they made their home their entire married life. They became the parents of two daughters, Karen and Linda.
Most of Lorena’s life, she was a homemaker, but she also worked in the cafeteria at Fairfax R-III School, in the dietary department at the Community Hospital in Fairfax, at Rogers Pharmacy in Tarkio, and at the U-Save Mart, also in Tarkio. Lorena enjoyed canning all of the fruits and vegetables that her garden would produce. She made mouth-watering jams, jellies and pickles.
Lorena was an excellent seamstress, she enjoyed reading, tending to her flower garden and playing pitch and dominoes with friends and family. She was a meticulous homemaker, always making sure everything was in its place. Lorena and Wayne had God at the head of their home and attended the Church of God at Craig, Missouri. She was a member of the ladies Book Club in Fairfax.
Lorena will always be remembered for the delicious meals that she prepared for her family and friends and for her bountiful garden. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be fondly remembered for her many kindnesses shown to others.
In addition to her parents and husband, Wayne, Lorena was preceded in death by five siblings and their spouses, son-in-law, Larry Freeman, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law. Survivors include two daughters, Karen Freeman, Smithville, Missouri, and Linda Hedrick and husband, Jim, Omaha; grandchildren, Jeff (Lauren) Freeman, Gower, Missouri, Jana (Eric) Stevens, Kearney, Missouri, Jacque (Brandon) McDuffie, Greg (Shane) Hedrick, and Justin (Allie) Hedrick, all of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Madisyn and Caleb Stevens, all of Kearney, Taylor, Korey, Naomi, Isaac, Jackson and Dillon Hedrick, all of Omaha; step great-grandchildren, Makenna (Sam) Khaitov, Omaha, Trey and Brooklynn Johnson, Gower; step great-great-grandchildren, Bowen and Cooper Khaitov, Omaha; brother, Donald Lee Epley, Springfield, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 2, 2019, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio
Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Friday, Davis Funeral Home. There is no scheduled family visitation.
