Loretta Kay Walker
November 13, 1940 - March 12, 2009
Loretta Kay (Flake) Walker, the daughter of Virgil Charles and Gladys Maureen (Kunkel) Flake was born November 13, 1940 in Craig, Missouri.
Loretta graduated from Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri in 1958. At an early age, Loretta received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at New Liberty Baptist Church, Mound City, Missouri.
She was united in marriage to James Earl Walker on December 7, 1958 at the First Baptist Church, Tarkio. They had three children; Cindy Lou, James Rodney, and Jill Ann. While raising her children, Loretta attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1967. For many years, Loretta provided dedicated care to a host of nursing home residents and hospital patients. She was a loyal wife, an extremely loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Loretta was a member of the First Baptist Church in Panhandle, Texas. She passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009 at her residence in Panhandle, at the age of 68 years.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl, on June 14, 2003, mother, Gladys, granddaughter, Angela East, and nephew, Randy Walker.
She is survived by her father; Virgil Flake, and brother, Allen Flake, both of Canon City, CO, two daughters; Cindy Gabel and husband, Dale, Panhandle, TX, Jill East and husband, Rip, Richardson, TX, son; Rodney Walker and wife, Kelly, Plattsmouth, NE, ten grandchildren; Bryan Leven, Roswell, NM, Brandi Leven McGehee, Amarillo, TX, Benjamin Walker, Vilseck, Germany, Serena Walker Beutler, Anchorage AK, Randy Walker, Plattsmouth, NE, Alyssa East and Erica East, both of Richardson TX, Tim Gabel and Kyle Gabel, both of Amarillo, TX, Natalie Gabel Horner, Panhandle, TX, and 12 great grandchildren, living in Texas, Germany and Alaska. Other family members, Sidney and Carol Walker, Dale and Lila Mae Faulkner, Marvin and Cathy Walker, Barbara Walker and Rick Walker.
Graveside Service and Interment:
10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 17th, Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
A Celebration of Life Service following the interment will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 17, 2009, First Baptist Church, Tarkio.
There is no scheduled family visitation.
Memorials: First Baptist Church, Panhandle, TX, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
