Louise Slemp
September 12, 1954 - November 11, 2006
Louise Russell Slemp was born September 12, 1954, in Hazard, Kentucky, the daughter of Oscar and Mary Louise (Allen) Deaton, Sr. In her early years, she moved with her family to Elkton, Maryland, where she attended school.
Louise was united in marriage to Oral Francis Russell in 1979. They resided in Perryville, Maryland, before moving to Ipava, Illinois. Louise loved children and drove a bus for Head Start and cared for many children. After moving to Illinois, she earned her CNA degree and worked for several years caring for many people. Mr. Russell passed away February 13, 1993.
Louise was united in marriage to Ralph Slemp on October 2, 1997. They made their home in Perryville. After their marriage, Louise worked as a bartender for the VFW. In July of 2005, they moved to Tarkio, Missouri, where they have resided to the present time. Louise passed away Saturday, November 11, 2006, at the Oregon Care Center in Oregon, Missouri, at the age of 52 years.
Louise will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, who loved to sing country music with her family. She was loved by all and spread love and joy with everyone she met. Louise was extremely creative with flower arranging and working with arts and crafts, and she enjoyed her collection of unusual clowns. Louise was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; and her first husband. Louise is survived by her husband, Ralph, of the home in Tarkio; three sons, Anthony Potter, Sr., Thayer, Missouri, Kenneth Allen Potter, Newark, Delaware, and Christopher Michael Russell, Hagerstown, Maryland; daughter, Jennifer Malott, Marceline, Missouri; stepchildren, Steve Russell, Alice Neal, Donald Russell, Don Sies, and Kristin Slemp; brother, Oscar Deaton, Jr.; sisters, Lula B. Merchant and Julia Marie Deaton; and 21 grandchildren.
Graveside services and Burial were held Tuesday November 14, 2006 at Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Memorials may be directed to the Louise Slemp Memorial Fund. Services under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
