1925-2012
Mary Margaret (Underwood) Campbell, the daughter of William Martin and Mary Letha (Bowden) Underwood, was born June 27, 1925, near Rock Port, Missouri. Margaret attended Irish Grove Country School and graduated from Rock Port High School in 1943.
On October 8, 1943, Margaret was united in marriage to Dean Archibald Campbell. During World War II, Dean served his country and the couple made their home in Amarillo, Texas, and Dothan, Alabama. While in Dothan, their only child, a daughter, Katherine, was born. Margaret returned to Rock Port when her husband served overseas. She worked at Clayton Allen Law Office.
After the war, they made their home on the Campbell Family farm in Langdon, Missouri. During the years on the farm, Margaret also became the postmaster of the Langdon Post Office and Dean and Margaret became the owners of the Langdon Grocery. In the 1960’s, the couple started renovations on the Campbell family home. They partially retired from farming and did a lot of international travel. Margaret was a dedicated wife and mother. Dean passed away in 1981.
Margaret continued management of the farms and later moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she was active in the Scottish Society and competition ballroom dancing. Margaret passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at her home in Omaha at the age of 86.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include one daughter, Katherine Caradori and her husband, Dick; grandson, Kevin Caradori and his wife, Amanda; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Connor Caradori; brother, Raymond Underwood and his wife, Beth; nephew, Shawn Underwood and his wife, Jennifer; two nieces, Shannon Evans and her husband, Greg and Mianne Underwood Irick.
Graveside Service and Interment: 11:15 A.M., Friday, March 9, 2012,
Elmwood Cemetery, Rock Port.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 A.M., Friday, March 9, 2012, prior to the Graveside Service at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
