Margaret L. Chambers
1918-2013
Tarkio, Missouri

 

Margaret L. Chambers, the daughter of William G. and Anna Pearl (Caudle) Racine was born September 2, 1918 in Shenandoah, Iowa. Margaret attended the Lone Rock Country School in rural Shenandoah.

 

On November 20, 1937 Margaret was united in marriage to James Maxwell Chambers in Hiawatha, Kansas. They made their home in the Westboro, Missouri area their entire married life and became the parents of nine children. Jim passed away June 20, 1989. In 2008, Margaret moved to Tarkio where she lived to the present time. Margaret passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 94.

 

Margaret sold Avon for numerous years, was also a waitress at the Elks Club in Shenandoah and was employed by her daughter, Janice, at Ladies Apparel, Shenandoah, for 12 years. She made many return customers and long-time friends while working these jobs, retiring at the age of 85.

 

Margaret was a member of the Westboro United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her family, dancing, attending softball games and crocheting. Margaret made pies for the Lord’s Acre Day until she was 90, was energetic and the “best mom ever.”

 

Besides her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by sons, Leo and Max Chambers, four brothers George, Wayne, Clarence and Roy Racine, and two sisters Blanche Flynn and Pearl Waldron. Survivors include children; Denton Chambers and his wife, Shirley, Tarkio, Charlene Sparks, Lindon, Utah, Sharon Fox and her husband, Ron, Shenandoah, Shirley Poore and her husband, Allen, Scottsdale, Arizona, Betty Poptanycz, Scottsdale, Jimmie Chambers and his wife, Karla, Westboro, and Janice Hunkins and her husband, Ed, Tarkio; grandchildren, Diana (Craig) Hedrick, Darrin (Lizzie) Chambers, Jeff (Melinda) Chambers, Jason (Lorie) Chambers, Bryan (Kim) Sparks, Brenda (Mel) Renslow, Brad (Kim) Sparks, Stephanie (Jamie) Todd, Angela (Sean) Levkoff, Jessica Poore, Jamie (Howard) Jeffers, Nic Poptanycz, Kelly (Wade) Rellergert, Ashely Poptanycz, Gabe Poptanycz, Danny (Keri) Chambers, Holly Gray, Travis (Stephanie) Chambers and Garrett Hunkins; 40 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

 

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 15, 2013, at Westboro United Methodist Church, Westboro, Missouri.
Interment: Center Grove Cemetery, Westboro.
The family will receive friends 5:00-6:00 P.M., Sunday, July 14, 2013, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
