Margery Ann Hamilton, the daughter of Harold and Lula (Gebhards) Walters, was born December 4, 1934, in Rock Port, Missouri. She attended Rock Port High School, graduating in 1952. In 1953, Margery was united in marriage to Maxen D. Gregg, of Tarkio. After Max’s discharge from the U.S. Air Force, they made their home in Tarkio, where Max taught math and science at Tarkio High school. Max passed away in January of 1978. To this union, one daughter, Joni, was born in 1960.
Marge was employed as a secretary for Tarkio Elementary School for several years and she worked for many years as a teller at banks in Rock Port, Tarkio, and Westboro. In 1985, Marge was united in marriage to Roger D. Hamilton of New Lennox, Illinois, and for a short time they made their home in San Antonio, Texas. After Roger’s retirement from the trucking industry, they returned to Tarkio, where Roger passed away in December of 1992. Marge continued to reside in Tarkio following Roger’s death, but for the past several months, she had been residing in the Palm Springs, California, area, near her daughter. Marge passed away on May 16, 2012, at Odyssey House Hospice in Palm Desert, California, at the age of 77.
Marge enjoyed social activities, bowling, playing bridge and golf. She had been an active member in the ladies golf association at Tarkio. Survivors include her daughter, Joni Mott and husband, Robert; stepsons, Russell Hamilton and Robert Hamilton and wife, Gail; step-grandchildren, Keri, Rebecca and Rachel; and step great-grandchild, RJ; aunt, Betty Gebhards; sister-in-laws, Kay Gregg and Sharon Smith; several nieces and nephews; numerous cousins and many friends.
Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment: 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 25, 2012, Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
There is no visitation.
