Marian was born in Clarinda, Iowa to Dr. O.E. Baird and wife Mary Copeland Baird, May 30, 1927. They moved to Tarkio when she was in the third grade, where she graduated from Tarkio High School and attended Tarkio College. She then married Arthur Murphy and lived in Kansas City, Maryville and Sidney, Nebraska. They had one daughter, Nicholan. After divorcing, Marian and Nichi moved back to Tarkio where Marian worked at Tarkio College and The Farmers and Valley Bank for many years until her retirement in 1989. In 1991, Marian married Fred Naeve and they made their home in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Marian and Fred have spent the winter months living in Galveston and enjoying life at the Beach with her daughter Nichi and husband David Dunphy. She passed away on November 4th, 2006 at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas at the age of 79.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband Fred Naeve, one daughter Nichi, and husband David and children David, Diane and Mark, step son Fred Naeve Jr. and step daughter Lisa Naeve and their families.

She was a loving and compassionate person whose gift was to reach out to others and make them feel special. Her bright and caring spirit will be greatly missed by her many friends in Tarkio, Cincinnati and Galveston. Marian had lived life with a heart of gold. She is now with the Lord and is looking down on us with love.

Services were held Friday, November 10, 2006 at 2:00 p.m., Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio; burial immediately followed at Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Visitation was one hour prior to service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Big Brothers and Big Sisters in care of Nichi Dunphy.
