M. Louise Carlson

1938-2019

Bethany, Missouri

 

Marilyn Louise Carlson, the daughter of Marie Bessie Stotts, was born December 6, 1938, in Bethany, Missouri. She was raised by her grandparents, Wes and Bessie Stotts, in Martinsville, Missouri. Louise attended Martinsville High School, graduating in 1957.

 

On December 26, 1958, Louise was united in marriage to Earl E. Carlson. They made their home in Cosby, Missouri, and became the parents of two daughters, Linda and Brenda. In 1970, they moved to Westboro, Missouri.  Earl passed away in 2000.

 

Louise was a stay at home mom, raising and caring for her children and helping her husband on their farm. In 1978, she began employment as a Certified Nurses Aid and Certified Medical Technician at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri, and Northview Manor, Tarkio, Missouri. She also worked at the Shenandoah, Iowa, and St. Joseph, Missouri, nursing homes, retiring in 2012.

 

Louise attended Martinsville Methodist Church, Westboro United Methodist Church, and after moving to Helena, Missouri, in 2008, she attended Helena United Methodist Church. She served as the local Girl Scouts cookie chairman. She enjoyed playing bingo, spending time with family and her dog, Spotty, and going out to eat with friends. Louise passed away Monday, February 11, 2019, at Bethany Care Center, Bethany, at the age of 80.

 

In addition to her grandparents, husband, mother and stepfather, Francis Geyer, Louise was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Carlson, sister, Betty Stotts, and brother, Leroy Geyer. Survivors include daughter, Brenda Jones, Tarkio; two granddaughters, Erica (Cody) Gladman and Sarah (Austin) Wheeler, all of Tarkio; three great-grandchildren, Bentlee, Andrew, and Scarlett Gladman; sister, Carolyn (Russel) Hawk, Chillicothe, Missouri; cousin and caregiver, Florence Bartlett, Bethany; numerous nieces, nephews and other cousins; and beloved companion, Spotty.

 

Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 15, 2019, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, Missouri

Inurnment: Center Grove Cemetery, Westboro, Missouri

There is no visitation.
