Marion F. Oswald, the son of James Kenneth and Jean Frances (Weedin) Oswald, was born February 18, 1956 and raised in Fairfax, Missouri. He attended Fairfax High School, graduating in 1974. While in high school, Marion purchased an International 1066 tractor and plowed as a custom field worker. He also went to a state championship football game during his junior year and was named All State both his junior and senior years.
On January 25, 1975, Marion was united in marriage to Tonya M. Shineman at Fairfax United Methodist Church. They made their home in Fairfax and became the parents of Misty, Nathan, Marshal, Adam, Amber, Michael, and Dru.
Marion was a farmer and also operated a Pioneer Seed Dealership with his brother, Richard. He enjoyed flying his Cub airplane, giving rides, and dropping snacks from the air, as well as hunting and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking family vacations. Marion was a servant at heart and loved his Fairfax community. He regularly volunteered for many civic activities to benefit Fairfax and the surrounding areas.
Marion was a member of Fairfax Optimist, Wingnuts Experimental Aircraft Association, Tarkio Chapter, Tarkio, Missouri, and helped with Fairfax Wolverine 4-H Club. He was a member and served on the church board of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Tarkio, and a former board member of Fairfax R-III Schools. Marion passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021 in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 65.
Besides his parents, Marion was preceded in death by twin infant children, Misty and Nathan; sister, Rita Sonntag. Survivors include wife, Tonya Oswald, Fairfax; children, Marshal (Michelle) Oswald, Fairfax, Adam (Tessa) Oswald, Monroe City, Missouri, Amber Sanchez, Platte City, Missouri, Michael (Amanda) Oswald, Fairfax, Dru Oswald, Fairfax; grandchildren, Dakota, Aidan, Addison, Gracelyn, Knox, Mackenzie, Delaney, Kayley, Ava, William, Claire, and Caroline (coming soon); brother, Richard (Mary Ellen) Oswald, Fairfax, brother-in-law, Marvin Sonntag; nieces, nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial: 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 31, 2021, St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville, Missouri.
Rosary: 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, prior to family visitation at Davis Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 P.M., Tuesday, March 30, 2021, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Interment: Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Tarkio or City of Fairfax Park Fund.
