Mary Lucille Lee, the daughter of Elza Sylvester and Lillie Annis (Maness) Cook, was born April 23, 1924, in Watson, Missouri. She attended Watson and Rock Port, Missouri, schools.
On October 27, 1940, Mary was united in marriage to Charles Warren Lee at the home of Charles’ grandmother, Lucinda (Bare) Hixson Shandy’s home in Tarkio, Missouri. They made their home on the Lee Family Farm, in the Red Star area, northwest of Rock Port, and raised their three children, Carolyn, Charlene and Kenneth.
Mary was a stay at home mom, raising and caring for her family. Mary taught her children Christian values and how to pray. She would regularly tell them, “PUSH,” which means Pray Until Something Happens. Mary was an excellent artist who enjoyed creating oil paintings, especially on china plates and teacups for her family to enjoy. She loved to sew and made clothes for her family. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Tarkio and the Lover’s Lane China Painting Club in St. Joseph, Missouri. For many years, Mary was a Sunday school teacher and a Christ Ambassadors youth leader. Charles passed away January 25, 2004. Mary passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 91.
Besides her parents and husband, Charles, Mary was preceded in death by infant son, Charles Thomas Lee; granddaughter, Stacey Leighann (Lee) Nenneman; brother, Harold Cook and wife, Joan; infant brother, Howard Cook; infant sister, Dorothy; sisters, Clydia Perkins and Betty Lininger; sister-in-law, Nina Marie (Roberts) Cook; and brothers-in-law, Leo Driskell and Bill Turner. Survivors include children, Carolyn Riley and husband, Carl, Charlene Didlo and husband, Tom, all of Tarkio, Kenneth Lee, Sr., Rock Port; grandchildren, Carla Riley, Independence, Missouri, Marla Swaby and husband, Mike, and Gene Riley, all of Tarkio, Kenneth Lee, Jr., Rock Port, Tony Didlo, Des Moines, Iowa, and Tammy Didlo, Tarkio; four great-grandchildren, Justin Nenneman, Nicholas Schebaum, Jordan Riley and Lacie DeRosier; two great-great-grandchildren, Hayden Nenneman and Lillian DeRosier; two brothers, Rollie Cook and wife, Evelyn, Maryville, Missouri, George (Ethyl Ward) Cook, Riverton, Iowa; sisters, Irene Turner, St. Joseph, Missouri, Shirley Driskell, Kansas City, Missouri; brother-in-law, Bob Lininger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M., Thursday, April 7, 2016, Assembly of God Church, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio, Missouri.
Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 6, 2016, Davis Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M.
