Maureen K. Moore

1964-2018

Rock Port, Missouri

 

Maureen K. Moore, the daughter of Rev. Dale J. and Lavone M. (Halseth) Barnett, was born August 25, 1964, in Great Bend, Kansas.  She attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1982.  Maureen then attended Dana College in Blair, Nebraska, where she studied business administration.

 

Maureen was united in marriage to Scott Jones and they became the parents of one son, Jeff.  They later divorced.  On July 12, 1997, Maureen was united in marriage to Wayne Moore at the Peace Lutheran Church in Branson, Missouri, a church that was planted in the mid 1980’s by Maureen’s father, Rev. Barnett.  They made their home in Rock Port to the present time.

 

Maureen worked for a bank in Branson and for the Bank of Atchison County in Rock Port.  In 1988, Maureen was employed as the Rock Port City Clerk Administrator and Court Administrator. While serving in that position for 20 years, Maureen received several certifications; Certified Municipal Clerk and Master Municipal Clerk from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, Missouri Registered City Clerk and Missouri Professional City Clerk from the Missouri City Clerk’s and Finance Officer’s Association, and Certified Court Administrator from the Missouri Association of Court Administrators.  In 2008, Maureen retired due to ill health.  She fought a courageous and lengthy battle of breast cancer and leukemia.  Maureen passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018, at her home in Rock Port at the age of 53.

 

Maureen enjoyed swimming and playing the piano.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and pets.  To Maureen’s family and friends, she was affectionately known as “Grammie,” “Ammie,” “Twink,” or “Mo.”

 

In addition to her father, Maureen was preceded in death by grandparents, George and Nellie (Cooke) Barnett and Marvin and Florence (Blessum) Halseth, uncles, Bruce Halseth and Gary Freeman, father-in-law, Oscar Moore, Jr. and brother-in-law, Jerry Moore.  Survivors include husband, Wayne Moore; son, Jeff Jones and wife, Bianca, all of Rock Port; step-son, Coby Moore and wife, Kerry, St. Joseph, Missouri; step-daughter, Taya Ray and husband, Phil, Trenton, Missouri; grandchildren, Jaylynn, Jagger, Jersey and Jeriah Jones, Rock Port, Brielle and Alexandra Moore, St. Joseph, Caleb and Brooklynn Ray, Trenton; mother, Lavone Barnett, Beatrice, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Margaret Moore, Rock Port; sister, Jennifer Gieschen and husband, Greg, Overland Park, Kansas; brother and sisters-in-law, Dick Moore and wife, Kate, Logan, New Mexico, and Amy Moore, Rock Port; uncles and aunts, Dave Barnett and wife, Tara, Paola, Kansas, Sharon Freeman, Fremont, Nebraska, and Patti Halseth, Salem, Oregon; nieces and nephews, Natale Fye and husband, Doug, Overland Park, Matthew Gieschen and wife, Monica, Chicago, Illinois, Todd Moore and Matt Moore, both of Kansas City, Melanie Athen, Rock Port, Scott Moore and wife, Terri, and Alison Curtain and husband, Greg, all of Kansas City, Amy Williams and husband, Wallace, Liberal, Kansas, and Tina Mcintyre, Beaver, Oklahoma; and several cousins.

 

Memorial Services: 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 5, 2018, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.

Private family inurnment at a later date, Grange Hall Cemetery, Rock Port.

Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Monday, June 4, Minter Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M.
