Maurice Irvine, the son of Samuel and Lucille (Woodhouse) Irvine, was born February 15, 1925 in Tarkio, Missouri. In his early years, he attended South York country school. His junior high and high school years were spent at Tarkio High School, where he graduated in 1943. During high school, Maurice was active in Future Farmers of America.

 

On October 19, 1945, Maurice was united in marriage to Margaret Elaine Cloepfil. They lived, farmed, and raised their family on the Irvine family farm east of Tarkio.

 

Maurice loved farming, gardening and being outside. He was recognized as an Honorary Chapter Farmer, by the Tarkio Future Farmers of America. He was a past member of the Tarkio Rural Fire Department and had served as a Colfax Insurance board director. Maurice was a former member of the York Church and an active member of the Tarkio Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder and Trustee, and on numerous other committees. Maurice passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Village Care Center in Maryville, Missouri at the age of 84 years.

 

Besides his parents, Maurice is preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Irvine. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Irvine, Tarkio; two sons, Steve Irvine and his wife, Eileen and Larry Irvine and his special friend, Jeannine Broermann, all of Tarkio; three grandchildren, Lance Irvine, Tarkio, Stephanie Irvine, Overland Park, Kansas, Chance Irvine and his wife, Nicole, Omaha, Nebraska; two great grandchildren, Sophia and Isabella Irvine, Omaha and step grandchildren; brother, Stanley Irvine and his wife, Ruth, St. Joseph, Missouri; sister-in-law, Pauline Wunschel, Ida Grove, Iowa; daughters-in-law, Regina Irvine, Kansas City, Missouri and Kathi Irvine, Aurora, Illinois; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Services: 2:00 pm, Monday, February 8, 2010 at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
The family will receive friends for 30 minutes, from 1:15 to 1:45 pm prior to the service at Davis Funeral Home.
Open visitation will begin after 9:00 am, Sunday, February 7, 2010, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to: Asera Care Hospice of Savannah, Missouri, United Presbyterian Church, Tarkio or Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
Services under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
