Maurice K. Martin, the son of Lee Valdo and Blanche Marie (Hardy) Martin, was born February 18, 1939, in Tarkio, Missouri. He attended Morning Sun Country School and Westboro High School, Westboro, Missouri. Maurice entered the United States Army and served his country, receiving his honorable discharge in 1964.
On May 22, 1958, Maurice was united in marriage to Patricia Hamilton at the Tarkio Baptist Church. They became the parents of two children, Jerry and Tammy, and made their home in Tarkio until 1971 when they moved to Westboro, where they lived to the present time.
Maurice was employed by Levings Construction as a heavy equipment operator, where he operated a dozer for 45 years. He was a member of the Westboro United Methodist Church and a former member of the Westboro Lions Club. Maurice also served as a former Mayor and Volunteer Fireman for Westboro. Maurice was an avid Chiefs fan, but more than anything loved spending time with his family.
Besides his parents, Maurice was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Lois Martin. Survivors include wife, Pat; son, Jerry Martin and wife, Traci, all of Westboro; daughter, Tammy Hill and husband, Orin, Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Schluter, Tyler Kirkpatrick, Hilary Jackson, Montana K. ” Tanner” Martin, and Trev, Tawni, and Tommi Lee Martin; five great-grandchildren, Dontay and Emma Schluter, Dryden and Tayden Barry, and Thane Kirkpatrick; brother, Donald Lee Martin and wife, Nancy, Westboro; and nieces and nephews, Rick and Barry Martin, Kim Heisinger and friend, Jim Larson and Debra Jo Smith and husband, Robert.
Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 7, 2013, Westboro United Methodist Church, Westboro, Missouri.
Interment: Center Grove Cemetery, Westboro.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 6, 2013, Davis Funeral Home.
Memorials: Westboro United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society.
