Max A Geib was born to Henry W. and Lydia (Heine) Geib on July 20, 1932 in his childhood home outside of Craig, Missouri. He grew up with his sister Maxine and brother Jerry.  Max attended Craig School through 8th grade; after which his family moved to St. Joseph, Missouri where he worked at a brick foundry to help support his parents and siblings.  After his father passed in 1958, the family moved back to Craig, where he started farming for his uncle Ernest Heine.

 

In 1959, Max was united in marriage to Shirley Windhorst at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Corning, Missouri. To this union four children were born; Carol, Darrell, Howard and Jeffrey.  They divorced in 1987.

 

Max farmed until retiring in 1995, but was actively involved in oversight until his death. Max was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Corning & St. Peters in Craig for over 50 years. Max passed away November 6, 2021 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port, Missouri at the age of 89.

 

Besides his parents Max was preceded in death by sister, Maxine Plummer. Survivors include, children Carol (Patrick) Pijanowski of Greenwood, Missouri, Darrell (Melba) Geib, Elk Horn, Iowa, Howard (Alisa) Geib of Fairfax, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Geib of Rock Port; grandchildren Brian (Heather) Pijanowski, Derrick (Cody) Pijanowski Alders, Brandon Geib, Kaitlyn Geib, Madison Geib, Connor Geib & fiancé Madison, Melissa (Rich) Comstock, Amanda (Ryan) Haas, Rebecca (Chad) Balke, Jadyn Geib, and Jessa Geib; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Jerry (Carol) Geib, Ottumwa, Iowa and nieces, nephews, and numerous other family members.

 

Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 9, 2021, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Mound City, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M., Tuesday before the service. Open visitation will begin 9:00 A.M., Monday at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.

Interment: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, Missouri
