Michelle Lynne Nielsen, the daughter of Ralph Ewing and Lana Kay (Dillon) Nielsen, was born November 29, 1958 in Superior, Nebraska. She attended the Saratoga schools in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1972, Michelle moved to Rock Port, Missouri with her family, where she attended Rock Port High School.

She married Rick Phelps, and had one son, Michael Kent Phelps. They were later divorced. She then married Michael Pierce, and they became the parents of four children, Andra K. James Michael, Jeremy Wayne and Dustin Scott.

As a child growing up, her family nicknamed her “Bones,” which carried through to her adult life. Michelle had worked as a nurse’s aide and medical technician in area nursing homes. She was an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhusker and Oakland Raider football teams. Her greatest enjoyment came from her children and grandchildren.

Michelle is preceded in death by her father, brother Scott, and grandparents, Victor Nielsen and Loyd and Dorothy Dillon. She is survived by five children, Michael Phelps and his wife Jennifer, Rock Port, Andra K. Pierce, Auburn, Nebraska, James Pierce and his wife Darla, St. Joseph, Missouri, Jeremy Pierce, Rock Port, Dustin Pierce, Craig, Missouri; mother, Lana Nielsen, Rock Port; six grandchildren; brother Michael Nielsen and sister Lisa Cooper and her husband Mike, all of Rock Port; grandmother Lorraine Nielsen, Nelson, Nebraska; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
