On September 18, 1955, Milton was united in marriage to Alice M. Nitzsche at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Beemer.  They are the parents of four children: Russell, Milton Dean, Lisa and Julie.

In addition to his parents, Milton was preceded in death by siblings, Irma Bergt, Rosalie Ott, Roland Holtz, Arlin Holtz, Lillian Adkins and Quintin Holtz.  Survivors include wife, Alice Holtz, Westboro; four children, Russell Holtz and wife, Nancy, Tacoma, Washington, Milton Dean Holtz and wife, Lyndy, Blanchard, Iowa, Lisa Holtz, Rock Port, Missouri, and Julie Livengood and husband, Dana, Burlington Junction, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, John Lee Holtz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
