Nancy Elizabeth Poppa, the daughter of Guy Andrew and Georgia Era (VanDyke) Long was born February 28, 1929, in Tarkio, Missouri. Nancy attended Tarkio High School, graduating in 1947.

On June 26, 1949, Nancy was united in marriage to Harold Poppa at the First Lutheran Church in Rock Port, Missouri. They made their home in Rock Port and Harlingen, Texas, during Harold’s military service. After the war, they made their home in the Greater Kansas City area to the present time.

Nancy was employed as a secretary in real estate in Kansas City, retiring with United Title Company. She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Kansas City. Harold passed away April 9, 2012. Nancy passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015, at her home in Kansas City at the age of 86.

Besides her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by brother, Dean Long; infant brother, Maxwell; sister, Beverly Hubbard; brother-in-law, Dwane Fentiman; and sister-in-law, Ellen Long. Survivors include daughter, Kathy Surprenant and husband, Joseph, Kansas City; four grandchildren, Andrea (Bill Murray) Cowper, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Natalie Whitham and husband, Anthony, and Kathryn and Phillip Surprenant, all of Kansas City, Missouri; sister, Helen Fentiman, Rock Port; and brother, Ernie Long, Harlingen.

Graveside Service and Interment: 1:00 P.M., Thursday, June 18, 2015, Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
There is no visitation.
