Naomi May (Shandy) Maheu, the daughter of Phil Elmo and Elizabeth Marie (Vanderslice) Shandy, was born March 18, 1933 in Phelps City, Missouri. She attended Phelps City School, to the eighth grade, and graduated from Rock Port High School in 1951. She then became a student at an Omaha business school and was employed by Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company.
On August 21, 1954, Naomi was united in marriage to Armand Edward (Ed) Maheu, at the Presidio Army Base, in San Francisco, California. They made their home in San Francisco where Naomi was employed by the Brown Pacific Maxim Company. In 1957, they moved to Agawam, Massachusetts, and in 1963 they returned to Rock Port. Naomi worked in Auburn, Nebraska for seven years and at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port, as a nurse’s assistant. They were later divorced.
In 1983, Naomi moved to Topeka, Kansas where she was employed as a domestic. Naomi then moved to Palm Springs, California in 1985, where she owned and operated a domestic service company. In 1999, she returned to Rock Port, where she lived to the present time. Naomi passed away November 13, 2008 at North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 75 years.
Naomi was a member of the Four Square Desert Chapel Church in Palm Springs, California. She was also a member of the Rock Port American Legion Auxiliary, Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Atchison County Extension Club and Templeton Home Makers Club. Naomi enjoyed belonging to the Rocket Red Hatters in Rock Port and for several years, she helped with the Rock Port Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts organizations.
Besides her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by one son, Phil Maheu and five brothers, J. W., Calvin, Gordon, Gordon’s infant twin brother, and Don Shandy. Survivors include three daughters, Marian Bobo and Jody Keller, Topeka, Kansas, Armanda Powell , Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one brother, Walter Shandy, Phelps City and one sister, Marie Joyce Shandy, Grass Valley, California.

Inurnment: A private family inurnment will be held immediately following the services at Millsap Cemetery, Rock Port
Visitation: The family will receive friends immediately following the inurnment service at Grace Church.
