Nina L. Moore, the daughter of James and Mildred (Tomes) Morrison, was born January 9, 1948, in Hamburg, Iowa. She attended Westboro School R-4, Westboro, Missouri, graduating in 1966. Nina later attended Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, St. Joseph, Missouri, receiving her Registered Nursing license in 1969.

In September 1969, Nina was united in marriage to Wendell Johnson and became the parents of Dee Kristine, Dana Kolette, Donna Karen, and Wendell Kenneth. They later divorced. In 1987, Nina was united in marriage to Donald Moore and later divorced.

Nina was employed as a Registered Nurse for 50 years. Her first nursing job being at Grape Community Hospital, Hamburg Iowa, Clarinda Mental Health Institute, Clarinda, Iowa, for 10 years and Trinity Lutheran Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri and then Pine Valley Childrens Hospital, Longview, Texas. She then was a traveling nurse for 8 years, traveling to John Umstead State Hospital, in North Carolina, St. Peter CBHH, St. Peter, Minnesota, Fergus Falls CBHC, Minnesota, Rochester CBHH, Rochester, Minnesota, Waterbury State Hospital, Waterbury, Vermont, Salena Valley State Penn, Salida, California. While a traveling nurse, she was recognized in a magazine for her dedication to psychiatric nursing and her skills.

For the last 10 years, Nina has been the co-owner with her daughter Karen of Anchor Homes, 5 group homes that serve those with mental health disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and brain injuries. Nina was the administrator/chief take down staff! Nina’s illness kept her from physically going to the office, but it did not keep her from giving her wise wisdom in the group text or advice on referrals from home or hospital.

Nina was a faithful Sister in Christ at the Harvest Fellowship Church, Shambaugh, Iowa. She was an angel on Earth. She enjoyed traveling, sewing quilts, and making jewelry. Her most treasured moments are the ones she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Nina tended to spoil them rotten. Nina was also accused of feeding too many treats and loving her dog Smokey, as much as she did the grandkids. Nina was welcomed by the arms of Jesus on June 23, 2023 surrounded by those who loved her.

Nina was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kristine and her son, Kenneth Johnson; two infant great grandchildren.
