Norma Ann (Kloubec) Mattson, the daughter of Edward Frank and Anna Elizabeth (Stelcik) Kloubec, was born March 3, 1929 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

 

Norma attended Hayes Elementary, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of the National Honor Society, President of the Mozart Music Association, and a soloist with the all-city orchestra. Norma received a Superior (One) rating at State Music Contest from 1941 to 1946.

 

Norma attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids and Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society at Drake and a winner of the Sigma Alpha Iota award for her piano performance. She was also a member of the Nu Phi Epsilon Music Society at Drake.

 

In 1949, Norma was united in marriage to Rev. Robert Paul Mattson. They became the parents of three sons. Robert was an ordained Pastor in the Disciples of Christ Church in Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Arizona and Missouri. He passed away in 1971.

 

For 36 years, Norma was the organist/pianist for the Westboro United Methodist Church and the Tarkio United Methodist Church. She considered it her ministry; sacrificing personal engagements to serve the families in her community. Norma also was employed in the office of Robert Rankin from 1972 to 1996 and served as a bookkeeper for the Tarkio Water Company and the Tarkio Golf and Country Club.

 

Besides her parents, Norma is preceded in death by her sisters, Irma Jean Kloubec and Darlene Kloubec; and brother, Edward Frank Kloubec. Survivors include her sons, Paul Edward Mattson, Scroggins, Texas, Rev. Jerry Lee Mattson, Williamsville, Missouri, Rev. Eric Robert Mattson and his wife Kathy, Hannibal, Missouri; one grandson, Daniel Mattson, Hannibal.

10:30 am, Monday, October 13, 2008, United Methodist Church, Tarkio. Inurnment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
There is no visitation.
